The subject of the Merkaba (Merkabah and also Merkava) is very deep and way beyond the scope of this short description. There are people that devote a life time of study to the Merkaba. However I will do my best to give you a brief overview on what they are and how they may be used .

The word Merkaba has its roots in Hebrew, meaning ‘Chariot’ and is used in the Bible (Ezekiel 1:4-26) to refer to the throne-chariot of God. Jewish biblical scholars say that the imagery of the Merkaba is not meant to be taken literally; rather the chariot and its accompanying angels are analogies for the various ways that God reveals Himself in this world. Some philosophies explain that Merkaba is a multi-layered analogy that offers insight into the nature of man and the world around him to teach us how to become better people.

While Merkabas have ancient biblical roots, they are most commonly known as a very special shape in Sacred Geometry. Merkaba is a star tetrahedron consisting of two inter-penetrating three-sided pyramids. If you can imagine it more simply, a three-dimensional Star of David.

Merkaba Stones for Healing

“Mer” means Light. “Ka” means Spirit. “Ba” means Body. It links the mind, spirit, and body to produce the Merkaba effect, an energy field that allows for enlightenment. It is said that it is the divine light path used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms.

Stones are sometimes cut into the shape of the Merkaba for healing practices. It is a  powerful balancing and protection tool. It is often used during meditation and with Prana breathing techniques.

The Merkaba balances and revives the activities between the two sides of our brain. Such training strengthens our sensitivities and mental abilities. The Merkaba assists us in our spiritual growth by connecting us with our higher self. When used in meditation, it more closely connects us to the Divine. You can either do that by focusing your energies into a physical Merkaba shaped stone or through intense visualization techniques.

The Merkaba enables us to feel unconditional love thus healing ourselves as well as others. It gives us the possibility to create the kind of harmonious life we desire. The Merkaba can be “programmed” to do anything (the only hindrance being our own disbelief.) The Merkaba is also a tool that can be used to transcend and activates the protective love of the universe and awakens, heals, and transforms on the spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional levels.

People who are drawn to Merkabas often aren’t really sure why. Unfortunately, no one (except you) can tell you why exactly that is. It is just generally accepted as being called to become closer with the Divine. Experimenting with Merkaba stones through meditation, visualizations and prayer will enhance that Divine connection and put you one step closer to finding the answers you seek.

  1. I love this article. I am so glad the newsletter is again up and running…and I really like the new format. I have noticed the Merkabas in the store but just thought they were a cool, new shape for certain crystals/stones. Now, armed with knowledge, this means I must spend more money at Earth Lore. No surprise there. And FYI, I consider the explanation/definition you presented to be both thorough and understandable. (I can always ask you if there’s more to learn. Thanks!)

  2. Could the Merkaba Stone be what the Moravian’s based their star on? I have had a yearning to own an electrified version of the Moravian star to hang in my home.
